The first record of the British band Definitely Maybe was an incredible success and the expectation for the sophomore album was huge. Morning Glory is one of those albums that has hits, classics and 25 years later one of the albums that when we look back defined the britpop movement along with the consolidation of Oasis with the masses. The band split on 2009 and with only 7 studio albums they remain as one of those special, unique and mythic acts, so let´s see What´s the story…

Some Might Say was the first single, a song with energy, punch and good lyrics, Roll With It will always be remembered as the contender with Blur´s Country House on the battle of the Britpop for the UK charts where the adversaries on the other corner (Albarn & Coxon) peaked at number 1 leaving the Gallagher brothers as runners up. Besides the media fuss, is inevitable recognize that both bands marked a milestone on music and will always be remembered. Another great songs of the album are Champagne Supernova with that slow beginning, an acoustic guitar little by little increasing the rhythm and power of the song, having a nice guitar solo in the middle of it. And Cast No Shadow is that quiet and lovely song where the acoustic chords take your imagination to unthinkable places.

Oasis sound on this second album was more rhythmic where 2 songs helped them get to the mases internationally; songs with a ballad style that 25 years later are known by new generations, are heavily played on the streaming era and are nothing but classics. Let´s talk about first about Wonderwall, a song that even the writer Noel Gallagher has mentioned in some interviews that is not his favorite and that he prefers playing it on acoustic than electric guitar; it became one of the most beloved songs for Oasis and not Oasis fans. Was it because the characteristic initial chords? Liam´s voice standing out with the guitar at the back? Or the ballad style and honest lyrics about having a hero? Hard to say but I believe is a mix of all the answers to those questions that allowed the song became an anthem for the band and rock & roll.

The next song that consolidated Oasis with the masses was Don´t Look Back In Anger, that piano at the beginning emulating a bit some Beatles sounds from the sixties, the ballad style and Noel singing instead of Liam; which at the time created frictions between the brothers as Liam always thought that singing was his gig, mentioning once that If Noel was going to start singing and writing the songs what was he supposed to be doing? Making the f@cking tea?. The relationship between the Gallagher brothers has been with ups and downs all the time, but the conflicts between them were definitely one of the reasons for the band to split; nevertheless as they mention on the song: “Take me to the place were you go, Where nobody knows If it´s night or day, Please don´t put your life in the hands of a Rock and Roll band, Who´ll throw it all away” is a reflection for what happened later, I think at the beginning when the band split the fans were angry and disappointed by having their love and hopes in a rock and roll band. But after all this years Oasis music stood the test of time, the fans got used to their separation and recognize that Oasis was great while it lasted, becoming a go to reference for music with incredible memories. However 25 years later of one of their massive records we still have the hope of a reunion and ask the Gallagher brothers to Do not Look Back In Anger, as we heard them say…at least not today.
