After the breakthrough and success from their first album with the innovation of a virtual band when technology was changing our lives entirely. The sophomore Gorillaz album “Demon Days” was a proof that the project created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett wasn´t just a one timer and would have a special spot in music history due to its originality and uniqueness.

After an Intro the first song that appears is “Last Living Souls” which particularly has a captivating sound with the synths including some violins while on some parts can be heard Damon screaming. Continuing with the catchy sound, what about that bassline from the first single “Feel Good Inc.” without forgetting the loud laugh before it!

Other songs that stand out are “DARE” with those electronic vibes, “Kids With Guns” with Damon´s softened voice in the chorus or “November Has Come” with the usual combination of rap that has characterized some of Gorillaz songs as well.

Demon Days has a special meaning for the band as has even represented their own curated music festival which took place on the UK and Los Angeles. Of course, stylized “Demon Dayz” influenced by their name Gorillaz.

Additionally, the song itself “Demon Days” is a master piece combining violins, a gospel choir and lyrics such as: “These demon days are so cold inside, It´s so hard for a good soul to survive, You can´t even trust the air you breathe, Cause mother earth wants us all to leave” which is hard to believe that today on 2020 we are on the middle of a pandemic and those lyrics are just as If someone had envisioned, somehow what is happening nowadays.

Demon Days will always be a fascinating album from Gorillaz which after 15 years, remains as a proof that the virtual band wasn´t just an experiment showing there´s no limits to creativity where despite there are good, bad or demon days; The Gorillaz will be next to us while going trough those.
