After releasing on 2019 New Age Norms with a supporting tour in the USA (take a look to our article “Cold War Kids, Louder & More Present Than Ever”), the second part; New Age Norms 2 came to light this last August the 21st 2020 and on today´s #DiscoverSunday we will talk about it.

The opening song Who´s Gonna Love Me Now is not a “new” song as for example was performed on their live tour when promoting New Age Norms 1 and there´s a good version of the song when played at the Saturday Sessions on CBS This Morning. The song has a fun sound coming from the synth giving some kind of coolness while wondering who is gonna love you now.

The album only contains 8 songs; the ones standing out are Catch Me Falling, You Already Know and Obsession. On the other hand a song that deserves specific attention given the mix of sounds and underlying style and passion is Somewhere, which I´m pretty sure will become a fan favorite and when tours resume, a song that will continue to be played on and on. The beginning of the song is with some synth keys and Nathan Willett´s voice to set up the stage, later the rhythm of the drums makes its entrance to speed up with lyrics such as “So I´m bleeding for you, I´m not giving up on you know, Even If I let you down, Oh my, my, We´re gonna make it somewhere, someday, somehow”. Having hope till the end of the song, as people usually has on a relationship with ups and downs.

Is good to hear new music even though we are on this lockdown and pandemic times; where the title of the latest Cold War Kids record helps us to go trough this new normal, as a new age norms since 2020, but with music is definitely smoother and will take us somewhere.
