Back on 1994 one of the most iconic grunge ambassadors was found dead at his Seattle residence; the news shocked the entire world, music enthusiasts, people not so close to music and everyone that learnt about the event. After Kurt Cobain´s death, the band Nirvana stopped making music and each member decided to pursue different projects. A year later, what began as a solo project by Nirvana´s ex-drummer Dave Grohl, turned into a massive rock act and one of the most respected and powerful bands in history, the Foo Fighters.

Is been 25 years since the grunge and post grunge sounds of the debut album “Foo Fighters” were heard in which Dave played most of the instruments; such a talented and cool guy in front and off camera. He might probably held back his multi-instrumentalist talents while being in Nirvana given the importance of the band and how they were enjoying touring and making records. Nevertheless, after Kurt´s irreparable loss Dave found comfort in one of the things that he loves the most, music.

After being known as a drummer his vocal range and talent on the record were quite impressive, the first single “This Is A Call” starts with a nice guitar chord till the power of drums and guitars appear, the same strong sound continues with “I´ll Stick Around” which slows down a bit with the third track “Big Me” when a clean guitar sound without distortion and lyrics such as “Well I talked about it, Put it on, Never was it true, But It´s you I fell into, I fell Into” , simple words making this song a favorite still 25 years later.

Some other great fast songs are “Good Grief”, “Weenie Beenie” & “Wattershed” which started to set up a sound base for upcoming albums. A couple of songs that are worth to dissect separately are “X-Static” & “Exhausted” as is just like the Nirvana sound was reflected purely and genuinely on the chords and rhythm, that grungy style, that raw sound almost like it was kind of a remembrance from those days playing with Kurt Cobain & Krist Novoselic.

25 years is a milestone significantly important for any band and artist, but given the circumstances of how the Foo Fighters initiated, it gives even more credit how after the tragedy of Kurt´s death Dave found a way to express himself by taking out those songs from the drawers and make them a reality, and by doing that one of the most important rock bands was born, The Foo Fighters!
