10 years ago, the sophomore album of Vampire Weekend was released. Of course, the expectation at that time was big due to the success and quality from their 1st record. They did not disappoint as it peaked number 1 on the Billboard 200. A particularity of this album was that the band faced a lawsuit by the model from the album cover which was settled afterwards.

The sound of Vampire Weekend has evolved with currently 4 albums, but their music couldn’t be understood as of today without the songs of “Contra”.

The album opener is “Horchata” with a very chill and tropical vibe as If you were relaxing at a beach. One of the fan favorites that continuously is played at their live shows is “Cousins” which has a faster tempo, same as “Holiday” that makes nice references for the summer time that for anyone that lives in a cold weather region is always nice to dream about some surf and sun.

One of the master pieces is “White Sky” as how Ezra´s voice amazingly hit the high notes and the guitar riff is so melodically accompanied with the drums, this only makes you try to dance whenever you are.

After 10 years of “Contra”, Vampire Weekend should continue to be proud of this record as it still has a fresh vibe even after turning 10! It shows a musical growth from their first album and the fans keep enjoying each of the 10 songs from it.
