Was on 2013 when the world saw for last time a full-length album from the New York City band, “Comedown Machine”. On February 2020 The Strokes released 2 new songs giving a sneak peek of what we could expect from their 6th album titled “The New Abnormal”.
The first song was “At The Door” in which Julian Casablancas voice sounds really good specially on the longer notes with too much sentiment. The battery does not appear till almost the middle of the song disappearing some seconds after, then a soft guitar solo emerges. Interesting to listen that the synth drives the song, with a psychedelic feeling that is confirmed on the music video with cartoon rabbits and spaceships included. “At The Door” is minimalist but most important, is the first single of The Strokes in almost seven years.
Their second song “Bad Decisions” has their classic guitar riffs since the beginning, and honestly while listening to the first 10 seconds seemed that the new song was a The Cure song, then Julian´s voice came in order to make sure that was not Robert Smith. This song has a faster tempo with a more classic style from their past albums, and surely this will be one of the fan favorites.
“The New Abnormal” will be released next April the 10th 2020 and is very anticipated for the fans. It has been a long time but those 2 songs definitely set up the expectation high, and can not wait to listen the full record and hear those songs live!
