2019 marked the year when Brandi got several nominations to the Grammy’s and won best American Roots Song & Performance, but we must go back in time a few years to fully appreciate her path and importance not only in music but activism.

The Washington born who’s celebrating today, June 1st her 38th birthday started playing folk and at some point meet the Hanseroth twins to combine efforts for a unique style.

The breakthrough came on 2007 with The Story, that even in pop culture the song appeared on the TV show Grey’s Anatomy which is very famous and has already 15 seasons.

Just one proof of her heart and activism can be found with the album Cover Stories, commemorating the 10th anniversary of The Story album release featuring big names like Pearl Jam, Dolly Parton & Adele; donating the proceeds to support kids affected by war.

Live, her voice gives you goosebumps specially when she gets to the high notes; just take a look to her latest Grammy performance of The Joke, as well she brings the rock and roll to her shows with songs like Mainstream Kid.

At her concerts she tells stories of her daughter and how she and her wife have learnt to be moms each day & the way she changed their life is immortalized in the song The Mother, where Brandi is the mother, the mother of Evangeline.
