With an incredibly sweet voice while speaking and giving interviews but with such an amazing range and power while singing, Florence Welch the lead singer of Florence + The Machine astonishes in each song and today we will reflect on the first single “Sky Full Of Song” from her 4th studio album released on 2018.
For a good 20 seconds, the beginning of the song is literally an acapella delight of her unique voice till the high strings of an harp join, followed by a short violin sound and a choir, where literally is like her voice was an orchestra director coordinating the entrance and exit of the instruments to create this melody.
Regarding her vocal range, the higher notes can be heard on the chorus when she starts singing the lyrics “Hold me down, I´m so tired now”. Still find unbelievable how shy she can look at interviews but when singing and even performing live she finds an inner force that transform her into a muse with artistry and inspirational vibes.
The lyrics “Grab me by my ankles, I´ve been flying for too long, I couldn´t hide from the thunder in a sky full of song, And I want you so badly, but you could be anyone, I couldn´t hide from the thunder in a sky full of song” seem to make reference to an ecstasy state which is a perfect description of Florence performances; so maybe her inner force is the thunder cause whenever she has a live show, she sparks.
This song has a slower rhythm compared to other previously released tracks such as “Dog Days Are Over” , “Ship To Wreck” or “No Light, No Light” but that’s what makes it so intimate and special where the peaceful and moving moments are harmonized the entire time by the machine of instruments and Florence voice full of light on this sky full of song.
