The US rock band All Time Low released a new album on April 2020 where their latest single “Monsters” is a song that stands out and very recently a new acoustic version was available. The original version has a very melodic rhythm and a collaboration with Blackbear for the rap part; however the acoustic song sounds so good with all the arrangements giving another perspective to it where the lead vocalist Alex Gaskarth sings the rap on Blackbear absence, doing a very nice job on it.
This song was performed yesterday on 08/14 during the livestream for the “iHeartRadio At Home Sessions” where Alex mentioned that Monsters is a really fun song to play and they have been enjoying it. On this year they were supposed to be touring to promote their album “Wake Up, Sunshine” but for obvious reasons given the pandemic situation they had to hold back. Of course, their closing song on that livestream was Dear Maria, Count Me In from their 2007 album “So Wrong, It´s Right”
Monsters is about this never ending love hate relationships with highs and lows that even we consciously know we are getting emotionally harmed we continue coming back to it, this is exemplified on the lyrics “I´m wondering why, Do all of the monsters come out at night?, Why do we sleep when we want to hide?, Why do I run back to you?, Like I don´t mind If you F#ck up my life.
Usually the acoustic songs enlighten the feeling and perception of it, and All Time Low did a great acoustic version; is worth to listen both but on this case I lean to the acoustic given the emotions it evokes, like an awakening of feelings under the sunshine before the monsters come back at night.
