Today is one of those days in which the effort done by music venues and bands to keep the music scene alive got to another level, bringing joy, fun and a new way of experiencing a concert by having a close encounter; still virtual though, but feeling a bit more intimate as If you were at the show. Oh man! How I miss attending concerts! But have high hopes that this will resume soon on 2021.

The show took place at the Battersea Arts Centre in London supporting The Close Encounter Club, live at the Grand Hall, yes you read it right! Live! Where the livestream had a two-way platform and you were able to watch the performance but as well see the people that was connected, having the ability of mute and unmute yourself to listen the cheers, the applause like If you were at the venue with the slight difference of being at the comfort of your home. Indeed, the experience was really good, felt so close and enjoyable.

The first act to perform was the band LIME, with about 5 songs including Rolling (a new one) along with their fun and cool song Surf N Turf where the girls know how to rock! Can´t help singing “Oh she loves it, She loves the way you squirm and fight, She wants to ruin, The rest of your entire life”. On April 2021 they will be touring in Germany, Netherlands and London. Don´t miss the opportunity to crowd surf with them!

The next act was Chappaqua Wrestling, performing their song Plant Trees and a massive cover that sounds so good, Don´t Start Now from Dua Lipa, mashing it up with Wicked Game from Chris Issak. A great combination that you can find the audio online in Youtube. The band performed at the end their latest release, The Rift which is such a melodic song, the guitar riff is so good, it makes you listen the song over and over again by having those rhythm changes with intensity and calm. Following up with the livestream experience Charlie Woods mentioned that was really good and Jude Lilley added that was good but weird, which is somehow true as they were just watching on the screens the faces of the audience in the 2 way livestream; but given current circumstances was a great way to connect with the fans.

Finally the big moment arrived, the headliners of the night! The Mysterines opening strong with I Win Every Time to afterwards provide some flavor of new songs such as Dangerous. One their best songs Love´s Not Enough was performed as well and there was a moment when the camera was switching between the virtual audience and the band where you could see people dancing, singing and even a cute moment where a father was watching the live performance with his daughter, just as If you were at the show!

Lia Metcalfe (lead singer) mentioned at some point that her voice was f@cked and she was sorry, but from my point of view her voice sounded very well, and that´s the beauty of a live performance, experiencing the songs with a different acoustic from the recorded version and engaging yourself with the emotions even on a virtual gig, where I personally sang out loud their fantastic song Take Control, “Well I´ve heard it before, but not known it till now, Wrongdoings don´t fade, I feel it this time, Something is changing, What it is, I don´t know, My fear comes back to take control”.

Without a doubt the Liverpool based band, The Mysterines will become a big act with their fresh sound, they are pure rock! Great things ahead for them while we patiently wait for their first album.

Definitely was a great experience to witness so much talent of all the acts today, being closer to the bands, support local venues and have a taste of the feeling that several people miss so much, attending a concert, which is a magical event reaffirming our love for music and beliefs in concertmood.com where “No song sounds, neither means the same after listen to it live”.
