On May 2019 at the Harvard Athletic Complex Hozier performed around 1 hour; a solid performance but as usual on music festivals it felt short. We definitely wanted to hear more songs so our hope was for him to come back soon.
6 months later he came not once, but twice for sold out nights on a theater in downtown Boston where he and all the musicians performed with majesty, coordination and passion.
With just 2 records is amazing the success that he has achieved but watching him live is the vivid proof of a talented musician with an amazing guitar technique, and a great voice for the beautiful and meaningful lyrics of his songs.
Particularly he did an acoustic guitar version accompanied with violin of “From Eden” making you feel very deep into it, almost bringing people to tears. He can also rock and with “Jackie and Wilson” he uses an electric guitar making the audience dance with every chord.
From his latest album “Dinner & Diatribes” sounds spectacular live, same as “Nina Cried Power” and “Almost (Sweet Music)”. Of course, one of the biggest moments of the night was when he played “Take Me To Church” where the singing of the entire audience is amazing.
In between songs he speaks to interact with the fans and on one of those moments he mentioned to speak up with the truth, which is something I found very interesting as honesty and trust is something that nowadays is very needed to make a better world. Definitely his music and words make us feel on heaven and from time to time on Wasteland, Baby!
